[HIDE] ===== HOW TO MAKE AN RPG =====

STEP 1: GETTING THE MATERIALS

You will need:

- A shotgun (or at least a shotgun barrel)

- Granulated sugar

- Potassium

- Sodium Nitrate

- Some metal



If you can't afford a shotgun, it should be ok. The shotgun will be used as a base to create your makeshift RPG, but you can also use a sturdy pipe to put the propellant to your RPG. However, this will most likely not last long as a shotgun is far better designed with extremely high pressure tolerance from the explosive charge. Using a metal pipe should only be considered as a temporary solution since it's most likely going to break,or worse, injure/kill youif you don't seal the explosive charge right.








STEP 2: UNDERSTANDING THE LAYOUT OF THE PROPELLANT

To make an RPG propellant, you obviously need to know how one works, and what are its core components.

An RPG propellant comprises of 3 crucial parts:

1) The booster

2) The sustainer motor

3) The warhead



The booster is what propels the propellant, the sustainer is what stabilises the payload while firing, and the warhead is the explosive grenade that will explode.

STEP 3: MAKING THE SKELETON OF THE PROPELLANT

To make the propellant, you will need to have a hollow metal tube as the booster, and attach the sustainer component to the booster. The sustainer can be made in plastic or metal it doesn't matter. For the grenade part, you can be creative about this and try to add this component in whatever way you want to the sustainer. However make sure to add some space for your explosive charge to detonate inside of the warhead. The full chemical instructions for the booster and the explosive grenade will be given in the steps below.








STEP 4: MAKING THE PROPELLANT'S LAUNCHER FUEL

You will need to do a bit of chemistry in this section to obtain the rocket propellant fuel, but it is not hard to make at all.

1) Get a beaker

2) Mix equal parts by volume Potassium or Sodium Nitrate and granulated sugar.

3) Pour the mixture into a pipe that can fit inside of the shotgun barrel.








STEP 5: MAKING THE PROPELLANT'S STABILISER

You can theoretically make a propellant without a stabiliser, but this will obviously make the propellant incredibly inaccurate. Making it is incredibly easy, as it only requires you to attach the stabiliser component to the booster component. Just make sure to add something reliable to stabilise the aerodynamics of the propellant without directing it to somewhere you didn't intend to target. For example, you can add the vertical stabilisers you see on the back of airplanes.








STEP 6: MAKING THE PROPELLANT'S WARHEAD

Now here comes to interesting part: We will create the explosive charge, but it needs to be a very specific one. Mercury fulminate is perhaps one of the oldest known initiating compounds, but it can be detonated by either heat or shock. Even the action of dropping a crystal of the fulminate causes it to explode. You will need the following materials:

- 5 g mercury

- 35 ml concentrated

- ethyl alcohol (30 ml)

- distilled water

- funnel and filter paper

- glass stirring rod

- 100 ml beaker (2) nitric acid

- adjustable heat source

- blue litmus paper



Solvent alcohol must be at least 95% ethyl alcohol if it is used to make mercury fulminate. Methyl alcohol may prevent mercury fulminate from forming. Mercury thermometers are becoming a rarity, unfortunately. They may be hard to find in most stores as they have been superseded by alcohol and other less toxic fillings. Mercury is also used in mercury switches, which are available at electronics stores.

Mercury is a hazardous substance, and should be kept in the thermometer or mercury switch until used. It gives off mercury vapors which will cause brain damage if inhaled. For this reason, it is a good idea not to spill mercury, and to always use it outdoors. Also, do not get it in an open cut; rubber gloves will help prevent this.

1. In one beaker, mix 5 g of mercury with 35 ml of concentrated nitric acid, using the glass rod.

2. Slowly heat the mixture until the mercury is dissolved, which is when the solution turns green and boils.

3. Place 30 ml of ethyl alcohol into the second beaker, and slowly and carefully add all of the contents of the first beaker to it. Red and/or brown fumes should appear. These fumes are toxic and flammable.

4. After thirty to forty minutes, the fumes should turn white, indicating that the reaction is near completion. After ten more minutes, add 30 ml of the distilled water to the solution.

5. Carefully filter out the crystals of mercury fulminate from the liquid solution. Dispose of the solution in a safe place, as it is corrosive and toxic.

6. Wash the crystals several times in distilled water to remove as much excess acid as possible. Test the crystals with the litmus paper until they are neutral. This will be when the litmus paper stays blue when it touches the wet crystals

7. Allow the crystals to dry, and store them in a safe place, far away from any explosive or flammable material. This procedure can also be done by volume, if the available mercury cannot be weighed. Simply use 10 volumes of nitric acid and 10 volumes of ethanol to every one volume of mercury.








STEP 7: LAUNCH THE PAYLOAD

After finishing the payload comprising of the booster, stabiliser, and warhead, you will now need to insert it inside the shotgun. Make sure the hollow tube you've made for the booster can be ignited by the shotgun's ignition spark, which will trigger the propellant chemicals into a violent ignition and it will launch the payload. Make sure to aim it right and accurately.
